Hi my name is Jazzie Jones, I wanted to take time and write to you and tell you about a person that is to beautiful for words. I have stared at this empty screen and wondered what are the right words to get you to pick her to be honored. I can only say that Gladys Cherie Horton is a lot of people’s hero. At age 35 serving the community as a police officer and a case worker in IL, she never has time for herself. Gladys has been a giver of herself, time and finances from an early age. Her Parents being older taught her values that were strong and instilled in her a work ethic and commitment in honoring her word. Gladys always has been the big sister, the best friend, the supporter in relationship, the dependable worker. She has looked beyond the fear and opinions of others while taking care of dying friends with aids, she has taught girlfriends how to drive and then given them her car while she took the bus.
Gladys sacrificed her independent living to go back and live with her parents while her mom had cancer and could not get state assist. She helped her dad when he got sick.
She works in a group home constantly giving genuine care to the clients by ,cooking wholesome meals, talking to them with dignity, being the dj for their annual festivals bringing smiles to them and the staff.
Recently, she was left to maintain two rental properties that she shared with her ex. Although devastating and unexpectant, she works night and day to maintain good credit and good standing with her tenants. One of whom is a family that she gave a chance providing them with a house instead of an apartment.
She opened her doors to a roommate that had been thrown out on the streets by a boyfriend and had no where to go. Basically she is always doing something for someone.
I would love for her to get just a taste of the goodness she gives. Gladys' home is in desperate need of remodeling. She has put 30,000 in renovations. He neighbor has said she is the best owner that he has seen in over 30 years, however the inside is just a place to lie down.
Please give this special woman a smile.
Thanking you in advance
