The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman -- Interview with Booted Beauty Alexis

Alexis_young Alexis Young, an attorney from Southlake, Texas, made no apologies about her conservative good girl ways this week on The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman. But is she really all sweetness and light, or does she resent the way she was portrayed?

MeeVee got the straight dish on Alexis's motivations, and her true feelings about this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Did you think it was fair getting voted off after speaking to Andy so briefly?
Oh sure, it was fair given the limited time that we had.  I feel like I got to know him, I feel like he got to know me. If the spark’s not there, it’s not there.

Do you think your conservative values played a role?
I’m not sure. If it did, I’m glad, because my goal in going to this show is letting him know as soon as possible what I wanted, so that I didn’t waste one single day of vacation.

So you just took time off from work -- you didn’t have to leave your job or anything?
No, not at all!

Bachelor_officer Had you watched the show before?
Oh yeah, I loved Bachelor: Rome. I missed some of the seasons in between, but I was a big fan of the show.

Were there tips you had taken with you from watching it?
Yes, I saw how one issue can get so blown out of proportion at any time. There would be so many other qualities about a person, but one would get the focus. Something else I saw on TV that I really kept in mind was that I had to be careful about what I revealed and what I didn’t focus on, because you never know what part of your personality was going to be highlighted. That made out to be the key.

Do you think that the portrayal they showed was fair?
I do. They didn’t show all the times that I was having fun and laughing and goofing around with the girls. I mean, I wasn’t always quiet and shy and reserved. I got to know a lot of the girls, and we had so much fun. I got to know Andy also, and not all of our conversations were serious conversations. They didn’t show that part of me, but they don’t have time to show all facets of a person’s personality.

Are you interested in doing more television?
Reality TV? No. It was a fun, once-in-a-lifetime experience. I didn’t go into it with the intention of starting my television career. It was a fun and unique experience that 20 years from now I can laugh at.

Has anyone approached you on the street with positive feedback about seeing you on the show?
I’ve gotten some random e-mails. Overall, I’ve been overwhelmed with the response that I’ve received -- random people coming up to me telling me that they were inspired by me, and that made me feel good because I never in my life imagined that I could portray a good example on a reality dating show.

Are you a fan of other reality TV shows?
Not really. I just catch them on and off. American Idol, America’s Next Top Model -- but The Bachelor's always been my favorite.

Was there any particular Bachelor season that you liked the best?
I liked the Andrew Firestone season. I thought that he seemed like a really nice guy, and a lot of the girls seemed really nice.
