FX Goes, Again, Where No Net Has Gone Before

Img_1866 FX - the home of "Rescue Me" and "The Shield" and "Nip/Tuck" - continues to opt for the most daring cable programming. Variety reports this week that FX has given the green light to "Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy's series "4 oz.," about a transsexual man who becomes a woman. No casting yet, although Brad Pitt is among the producers. In a typical "N/T" sort of twist, the character's profession has changed from sportswriter to gynecologist. Apparently Murphy (right, at press tour in July) hopes to stretch out the character's transition over four seasons. And I believe the title refers to something he would lose in the process. One can only wonder if the "Nip/Tuck" docs will be involved - it's just the kind of thing they'd like.
