Fun With Casting! "Deadwood's" Olyphant to Nicole Richie
We already know William Hurt is joining the cast of "Damages" this season as a new client for Glenn Close's gorgon lawyer Patty Hewes. Now "Deadwood" alum Timothy Olyphant (right) has signed on as the new man in the life of Patty's sidekick, Ellen, played by Rose Byrne. Ellen suffered mightily last season, sometimes at Patty's behest, and given the labyrinthine betrayals the show favors, you have to wonder if either of the male characters will turn out to be what they seem. Good times!- Ricky Gervais let slip that Steve Carell has reupped for three more years of "The Office." Yay!
- John Schneider has signed on for "twentysixmiles," producer Rob Miller's six-episode love project, which Miller is producing independently in hopes of latching on with a broadcast or cable partner. Schneider plays a guy who moves to Catalina island to be near his kids after a divorce. It must be a love project for the former "Dukes of Hazzard" star too, because he turned down a network show to take it.
- THR says Aidan Quinn and Rutger Hauer have joined the ensemble cast of the ABC fall drama "Prince of Motor City." Which I think means it will last less than 10 episodes.
- Nicole Richie will make a guest appearance on NBC's "Chuck" this fall, playing a high-school heather at the high school reunion of old rival Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski), Chuck's CIA handler and possible love interest.

Tim on "Damages". So glad I gave that show a second chance, now I'm all caught up to watch Tim as the show airs this time.
I'm a crazy DVR-er so I didn't finish "Damages" until about April. I just store up the episodes and tend to watch the serious dramas like 3 months later.
