"Moonlight?" Fuggedaboutit! "Jericho?" Still Hoping
The wide-ranging efforts to find the vampire series "Moonlight" a new TV home after its cancellation by CBS have been, well, staked. THR says the sets have been dismantled and so has the possibility of any future for the show on CW or a cable outlet. The ratings just weren't good enough to justify the cost of producing the hourlong series. But I think it's safe to say that star Alex O'Loughlin (left, with Shannon Sossamyn) will turn up in another series sooner rather than later, given the fan support this show gained in its brief life on air.
Those wacky "Jericho" fans are once again saying "nuts" to cancellation, though. Having saved the show once, only to see it get so-so numbers in the middle of the writers strike, fans of the CBS show have now ponied up $6000 for a basic cable ad in and around Hollywood in hopes of convincing decision-makers to change their minds. TV By The Numbers says the shows producers have been supportive of the fan efforts and say there are still talks about making a place for the show on a cable outlet such as Sci Fi.
You have to wonder, though, if another network besides CBS might have been able to make a good of these two shows, one a vampire fantasy, the other an apocalyptic drama.

The fight to save Jericho is not over!
The fans have already put ads in The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, a billboard in Los Angeles, and are now airing TV ads in the Los Angeles area.
CBS Paramount is in talks with other parties to continue Jericho and they want to hear from the Jericho fans.

sorry but both efforts are likely to fail. for the same reason. budget. both have too high a budget for a cable net. If that wasn't a major, if not THE issue, someone would have grabbed them by now. before the cast could get away, before the sets were pulled (although rumor as it that Moonlight's was going to be pulled no matter cause another show is using the stage. and photos were taken before the pieces were merely stored, not destroyed).
