OMFGossip Girl! And lotsa links!
There were some areas of the country where last spring's "OMFG!" ads for "Gossip Girl" were considered scandalous, offensive, and a further sign of the fact that we're all on the highway to hell. Many newsrooms for instance, and the headquarters of the Parents Television Council (Motto: Where FCC Complaints Are Born, And Mass-Emailed To Prudes Nationwide). Well, now the fun-loving folks at CW have a new set of ads out, featuring disapproving quotes from TV critics and ... wait for it ... the Parents Television Council. Just to be provocative, we'll use a couple to illustrate this gi-normous set of links. Because I got home from press tour at 1:30 in the morning after 12 hours on an airplane, and I am really not feeling it today.
- Joss Whedon told James Hibberd that he's going to produce webisodes for "Dollhouse" - a lot of them. (Click here for my visit to the set of "Dollhouse.")
- Miley Cyrus PR reps say no way is she doing a nude scene for an upcoming film. And we really thought she was. Way to get some ink on a slow day, you wacky PR people!
- More from the Whedon-verse. While I was getting on the bus, Alan Sepinwall hung around for a one-on-one on "Dollhouse."
- "Special Kevin" of "The Office" gets a day in the sun. And he swears he's going to "bang Holly."
- "Bro Code" from "How I Met Your Mother" to be permanentized in book form?
- Miley's PR reps are on the job again. her "dance crew" will be in a battle at the Teen Choice Awards.
I skipped the last press conference at press tour because I was sick of asking questions about shows we haven't seen yet, not even a pilot. Turns out that was a good idea, because at the session for "Kings," Ian McShane unloaded on one unlucky critic.- "Swingtown" and "Flashpoint" switch nights this week and forever after. I think this is the answer to my question about the future of "Swingtown," which CBS honcho Nina Tassler ducked last week.
- "CSI," the TV show, helps solve a real-life crime. Or inspired one. or maybe both.
- My TV homeboy Aaron Barhart, once the king of "Late Show News," has some thoughts about the Leno-Conan transition, and it's not looking good for Leno after "The Tonight Show."
- Aaron also has some insight into what happened to "Swingtown" - "Hopkins" happened.
- "Private Practice" actresses getting involved in actors union tumult. Shouldn't they just focus on fixing their series?
- Patricia Heaton might have found a post-"Back To You" job.
