• "America Idol" host Ryan Seacrest's lifelong quest to become the next Dick Clark is one step closer, as he's been named permanent host of Clark's "New Year's Rockin' Eve" on ABC.
• Martin Scorsese may direct HBO's pilot "Boardwalk Empire," about the early days of Atlantic City.
• I don't know what to say about this: Tori Spelling giving birth got the highest ratings in the history of the Oxygen channel.
